esx 3i backups

So we are running esx 3i on hp hardware (usb sticks).  We would like to backup our vm’s to an external “backup” server that has ntfs formatted disks that we can send off site.  We have looked into vranger pro which presently does not support 3i and also a product from veeam.  The backups work wonderfully but the catch for the veeam product is that restores have to be run to a full esx server with the full service console.  As a small not for profit we are trying to keep our costs down and not license or maintain another box just for restores.

Are you aware of any products that would let us both backup and restore to a 3i server?  Or do you have any thoughts or suggestions for us?

I do appreciate any words of wisdom you would be willing to share.
